York based magical drinks emporium The Potions Cauldron is reporting a record start to the year with a one hundred and twenty-three%per cent boost in shop takings compared to the same period in 2019. Based on York’s historic Shambles, the magical store resembles an ancient apothecary.
This is against a backdrop of:
The current crisis affecting retail
York suffering lower footfall due to negative media coverage of localised flooding
Terrible weather, including two storms.
The drop in tourism caused by Corona-Virus
The Potions Cauldron, best known for their magical potion drinks, also supply their range of soft drinks to many famous names, including Hamley’s, Center Parcs and Merlin Entertainment.
Founded in 2018, the Potions Cauldron has just completed a record breaking seven-day trading period beating any previous seven-day period, including both Christmas 2018 and 2019.
The Potions Cauldron co-founder and Director of Wizardry Phil Pinder said, “Our success is really down to our customers and the enjoyment they gain in the experience of visiting us. It’s great to hear the comments and reactions that our products and store both generate. We essentially retail drinks, but the way we do that is anything but normal, and purely an experience of magic.”
Phil continued, “I think as people share their experience of visiting our store, this just generates more interest and intrigue. The products speak for themselves, and the theatre we provide in-store, coupled with excellent value for money, leads to the viral way our story is spreading. People discover our products in places all over the country, then plan visits to York based on the products they have purchased.”
The Potions Cauldron are looking to launch a new drink in time for Easter 2020 which they hope will continue to the propel the company forwards.
